A New Title for an Old Story 📚🌊
What the Water Remembers
Some of you may remember this story under its original title, The Boy Who Swam with Alligators. I’ve spent a great deal of time reimagining and rewriting the book—not simply editing it, but going back to the story and rewriting the storytelling.
The story of Grayson, who becomes Cayman.
Sarah, who sees the world through a camera before discovering that conservation is her calling.
Emma, who grows up surrounded by family, nature, animals, and the stories her mother tells her.
And the water that is there through all of it.
The new title feels right because this story isn’t really about one boy swimming with alligators.
It’s about what we remember.
What we carry.
Where we belong.
And how one generation passes its stories to the next.
What the Water Remembers will also connect naturally with What the Land Endures.
Two stories.
Two elements.
And, perhaps, one larger story about the place that holds them both.
