Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley

When you hear Frankenstein, you probably picture one of the many horror movies. But Mary Shelley’s original story is something quite different—and we really enjoyed it.

Victor Frankenstein creates a creature who, as the story unfolds, becomes self-aware and longs for something surprisingly simple: friendship, companionship, and a place where he belongs.

And here’s the interesting part: the more you learn about Victor and his creation, the more you may start wondering who the real “monster” is.

If you read Frankenstein years ago, you may remember the creature but have forgotten the story behind him. It’s not a long or difficult read, and there’s much more to it than we remembered.

Maybe it’s time to give this classic another look. 📖
